Hours of Service for Entrance 
and Clearance 
Inspection services for the entrance/
arrival of aircraft at Sanderson Field 
Airport are generally available 7 days 
per week, 24 hours per day in 
accordance with the port's permission 
to land procedures.
Commercial aircraft operators 
departing the U.S. must obtain an 
outbound clearance by contacting CBP 
directly. 
Permission to Land Procedures 
Pilots must secure permission to land by contacting CBP 
prior to departure from the foreign airport and at least one 
hour in advance of the anticipated arrival time at Sanderson 
Field Airport.
Permission to land is granted with a tolerance of (+/-) 15 
minutes. If your ETA deviates outside these parameters, 
previously granted permission(s) are invalid and you must 
contact the CBP port to re-secure permission to land.

Inspection Process 
• A CBP Officer will meet the aircraft for inspection.
• All crew and passengers will be processed inside the terminal.
• Be prepared to present passports, visas, pilot’s license, medical certificate, aircraft registration,
and user fee decal (if appropriate).
• Regulated waste/garbage will be collected by CBP in conjunction with the disposal contractor
from the aircraft crew.
• Passengers can depart directly at the conclusion of their inspection.
Special Procedures/Miscellaneous 
• Flights originating from locations other than Canada are required to contact the Port disposal
contractor: HM Environmental Services Tel: 586-469-0041 and supply them with a credit card
number covering the $2850 (US) charge for disposal fees. If the aircraft is unable or unwilling to
do so, they must re-directed to a USDA approved airport. The Sault Ste. Marie Port of Entry will
not be responsible for payment of the disposal fee or scheduling disposal services.
• Regulated garbage removal from aircraft arriving on weekends must be arranged with port
disposal contractor, HM Environmental Services, a minimum of 72 hours in advance.
