Hours of Service for Entrance 
and Clearance 
Inspection services for the entrance/
arrival of aircraft at Erie International 
Airport/Tom Ridge Field  are available 
M-F, 0800-2200 in accordance with
the port's permission to land
procedures.
Commercial aircraft operators 
departing the U.S. must obtain an 
outbound clearance by contacting 
CBP directly. 
Permission to Land Procedures 
Pilots must secure permission to land by contacting CBP 
prior to departure from foreign and at least two hours in 
advance of the anticipated arrival time at Erie International 
Airport /Tom Ridge Field and speak directly to an officer.  
Permission to land is granted with a tolerance of (+/-) 15 
minutes. If your ETA deviates outside these parameters, 
previously granted permission(s) are invalid and you must 
contact the CBP port to re-secure permission to land. 
Inspection Process 
• Aircraft should park in the “red box” at the CBP general aviation facility.
• The aircraft tower can direct you in if needed.
• A CBP Officer will meet the aircraft on the ramp to begin the inspection.
• Be prepared to present passports, visas, pilot’s license, medical certificate,
aircraft registration, and user fee decal (if appropriate).
• Regulated waste/garbage will be collected by CBP if warranted.
Special Procedures/Miscellaneous 
• All seaplanes arriving from foreign MUST first land and clear CBP at Erie International Airport.
• Permission to land requests must be made during regular business hours except in an emergency.
• Permission to land can be denied if inspection service cannot be provided for the date/time requested.
• Weekend and holiday landing rights requests must be made by prior business day before 2100 (ET).
• Advise CBP if transporting live animals, weapons, monetary instruments over $10K or commercial
imports at the time you request landing rights.
