Inspection Process
- Aircraft are to utilize provided lead-in line to R5 where they will park and await for CBP. R5 is located just to the south of the main terminal.
- CBP is located in a red brick stand-alone building on the south side.
- The control tower can you in if needed.
- There will be no individuals available to park your aircraft.
- A CBP Officer will meet the aircraft at the Customs Ramp (R5) to begin the inspection. We do not clear aircraft at Signature or Modern Aviation.
- Regulated waste collection arrangements must be made directly with Modern Aviation prior to arrival. (from all locations except Canada)
- All crew and passengers will be processed inside the GAF.
- Be prepared to present passport, visas, pilot's license, medical certificate, aircraft registration, and user fee decal (if appropriate).
- Passengers can depart directly from the GAF at the conclusion of their inspection.

Permission to Land
Pilots must secure permission to land by contacting CBP directly, during regular office hours, prior to departure from the foreign port or place and at least 24 hours in advance of the anticipated arrival time at Des Moines International Airport. Permission to land is granted with a tolerance of (+/-) 15 minutes. If your ETA deviates outside these parameters, previously granted permission(s) are invalid and you must contact CBP to re-secure permission to land.
